What is the best way to fry a steak in a frying pan?

I've been cooking steaks and been trying different types of ways to cook a steak. I tried southwest steak and montreal steak. But I want to try different types. So please give me your info.

Okay, here goes... First, put the steak in a bowl filled with Jack Daniel's or Jim Beam for about 2 hours. Then, take another bowl and put some olive oil in the bowl and add minced garlic with paprika. Stir that until it is completely mixed. Pour the olive oil mixture into the skillet (just enough to line the bottom and sides of the skillet) and then turn the heat on low. When the olive oil starts to heat up, place the steak in the pan and turn the heat up to a medium setting. Cook it until it is "browned" on both sides (obviously, flip it over halfway). The most important thing: don't cook it over medium rare -- if you do, you shouldn't be eating steak, you should be chewing on cardboard for dinner... after all, it's cheaper and tastes about the same as an overcooked steak.
